Claire Hind is a writer working across performance for live and mediated practice
Her scores for live performance are structurally composed from natural earth processes of deep time geology, their context tell stories through spoken word; fracturing language, disrupting meaning, challenging gendered spaces through word play with sentiment and humour. Claire’s film work, rich in dream imagery, explores the complexities of desire to rewrite playfully and politically, problematic, patriarchal figures from cultural history. Her walking art practice connects to scoring and her collaboration on the Ways to Wander projects have been instrumental in the international development of a culture of walking and experimental writing, walking and well-being. Claire also writes lyrics and performs electronic dance music with The Long Dead Stars, and makes experimental film shorts with Holiday Camp.
