Field Recordings from the International Aloneness Institute

Claire embodies geological rock, her body a field recorder, channelling the vibrations of seismic energy and unheard sound.

Claire’s live solo performance mixes contemporary spoken word with humorous direct address, about the idea that we may be alone in the universe whilst challenging the perceptions and prejudices of women who chose to, or find themselves to be alone.

The score  was composed working through writing processes that align themselves compositionally, and analogously to mountain formation and erosion of deep time geology, and in connection to local geological rock formations in the area the performance takes place in.

The work was developed with SPRITE Arts collective Plymouth, with Le Pad at  Nathalie Béasse In Angers, France, and premiered at the Stamsund International Theatre Festival 2023.

The work is now ready to tour, and can suit the studio, stage, or gallery space.
